Toilet training for younger children is introduced in partnership with parents when the child shows they are ready. (A leaflet is available on request).
During the toilet training process parents are asked to provide and maintain a supply of pants and spare clothes. We also ask if parents could remember to check their child’s pegs for any soiled clothes to go home for washing.
Once your child has arrived at nursery and settled, staff will change them into their pants but this will only happen for the first week or so and after that we ask parents to change and take them to the toilet before entering the playroom. Your child will be taken to the toilet by staff at regular intervals.
The staff and parents will work together to support the child during the toilet training process. Toilet training must have begun at home in the first instance.
